Noctuai and EU projects

Noctuai Sp. z o.o. is implementing a project entitled „The system for improving the safety of people and property based on accommodating, active computer vision and innovative artificial intelligence algorithms, operating on edge devices.”

The development of technologies and artificial intelligence algorithms significantly impacts many spheres of life and supports sustainable development. The demand for intelligent systems, such as visual safety monitoring of people and property, is growing dynamically.

The Project aims to create an intelligent security monitoring system that can simultaneously detect various events and dangerous behaviors and operate efficiently on edge devices. This goal will be achieved by developing an innovative concept for the specified anomaly analysis and multi-stage inference procedure and the creative use of active vision. The whole idea is inspired by how the human brain sees. The tested algorithms will be compressed to enable edge computing with low energy consumption.

A virtual 3D environment will be created to address the problem of data quantity and quality in AI projects. This will allow easy and low-cost rendering of personalized training data.

Active vision takes advantage of PTZ cameras, enabling monitoring of large spaces and open areas without installing many devices to cover the area at close range (e.g., construction sites, production halls, warehouses, Smart City). Integration with the existing monitoring infrastructure will benefit from low implementation costs, and combining information from multiple cameras will increase the effectiveness of the solution and its utility value. Research on camera movement compensation will allow the system to be used in autonomous vehicles, including drones.

The Project will address the simultaneous detection of two representative hazardous events or behaviors: falls and fires. They were chosen for the start due to their universality and the scale of damage caused by them. The system can easily be expanded to include further events and dangerous behaviors.

The Project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under Sub-task 1.1.1 Industrial Research and Development Works Conducted by Companies, Smart Growth 2014-2020 Operational Program.

The Project is being implemented under the competition of the Polish National Center for Research and Development (3/1.1.1/2020 Szybka Ścieżka 3_2020)
